DDB China Group has scooped a new project for Shanghai Volkswagen in a five-way shoot out, expanding the agency’s relationship with the auto client. According to the report in Media Magazine, other agencies believed to be involved in the pitch included TBWA, Saatchi & Saatchi and Shanghai Advertising.
DDB Shanghai will develop the brand strategy and through-the-line activities including advertising, sales promotions and in-store development for Shanghai Volkswagen’s latest model, to be launched next year.
The win comes on the back of the Lavida brand launch awarded to DDB China earlier this year.
The Media story quoted Dick van Motman, president and CEO of DDB China Group, as saying: “I am delighted to be expanding our business with VW, DDB’s association with the Volkswagen brand goes back nearly 50 years, it is part of our heritage. We now have two projects, with hopefully more to come. “
Shanghai Volkswagen, a joint-venture company with Volkswagen, handles many of Volkswagen leading brands including Lavida, Passat New Lingyu, Polo/Cross Polo, Touran and Santana.
A separate company, FAW-Volkswgen, last year hired Tribal DDB for a campaign targeting bloggers.
DDB holds the VW account in eight countries in China and 34 countries worldwide.
