Valentine’s Day is a golden business opportunity for digital marketers as the Chinese try to do everything possible to create romance. Over the next week, expect to see well-packed chocolate gift box in supermarkets and department stores, red, yellow and white roses in follower shops as they prepare for the romantic at heart to purchase these gifts from Beijing to Guangzhou.

So it is up to us as digital marketers to start pulling these emotional heart strings to drive more online sales. Given the Chinese propensity for Social Networking sites, social media techniques provide most online retailers with an effective avenue for promoting their products/service.

So, once we can confirm the the channel of e-distribution we need a plan for the content to be engaging and interesting. There are simple things that can be done even at this late stage to generate interest on your site.

Create a Special Valentine’s Day Product or Service
A great way to get some Valentine’s Day love is to create a special Valentine’s Day product or service, or more than one — and promote them on your site as well as on complementary sites, via e-mail, and social media sites.

Don’t Forget  Love Coupons
And dont forget those Valentine’s Day e-coupons, which many e-tailers can use to reward existing customers or attract new customers to their sites.

Try using an online poll
On Valentine’s Day, ask readers to send in their tips for “The Best Way to Show Your Partner that You Love Them.” Then you  pick the best submissions, post them on the blog, and ask your readers to vote on which one was their favorite. The person who submitted the winning entry will be sent a box of chocolate, or dinner somewhere or some other reward.
